there’s a reason why so many of house music’s early releases have endured over the decades. the best of them have a quality that defies logic. early house records like heard s own -washing machine,- or the -no way back- by adonis, still have the power to stun listeners and drive clubs wild. they sound alien and beautiful, simultaneously ingrained within us and so unlike everything that followed. and few sound as beautiful, or as alien, as -can you feel it.- by 1986, heard—who was born and bred in chicago and been playing in bands as a drummer—had already proved to the world that he was a master of poignant, enthralling house. the previous year’s elegant “mystery of love,” originally released on alleviated records, had featured an insistent ascending bassline repeating under a plaintive, swooning analog synth, with a gentle, conga-led rhythm setting the pace. it was soon rerecorded in a slightly more fleshed-out style, this time featuring frequent collaborator robert owens on vocals—”there’s a moment in our lives when we all must try the mystery of love”—and rereleased on d.j. international.

the ep -a form of travel unknown to humans- is chasing us. guiding and forcing a way simultaneously. the sound is harsh but has an immaculate precision to it –void of air- compelling the listener toward a light, seducing us to tear through the night. we enter with „s.m.o.d. – sticks- a deep and magnetic sound opening up slowly, starting to breathe and to merge into -s.m.o.d. – cell culture- which gives a much more metallic flavour but never the less beat driven – fast and strident- maybe even hasty, pushing to skip a beat of the heart. to finish off with -s.m.o.d – pulse- carrying an unsettling almost disturbing quality, formulating a mechanical sound alienated from the human experience. the ep creates a seductive space outside our comfort zone, inviting to explore a space and travel unknown to humans. gimme more.

klas henrik lindblad better known as sasse or freestyle man has been a friend of our label for many years and also released together with dorian for our raum musik compilation in 2005. soul sounds without any doubt still is one of his absolute masterpieces and he was never willing to do anything with it and just let it rest in peace until the idea came up to re release it for our label. usually we are not licensing or re releasing anything but sasse and especially this track of him definitely deserve it. as it is also our 20 years anniversary we got one of our key artists on board that has been playing the track again a lot recently and that also immediately liked the idea of remixing this track and this is the result now. we are happy to present you the original track of sasse plus two remixes by our dear friend ricardo villalobos and label head dorian paic together. enjoy !

los angeles producer sweatson klank builds his productions as if they were films, developing a story from start to finish. stylistically, fine lines his debut full length for friends of friends, picks up where his 2017 then i was me’ ep left off, melding forward thinking hip hop and electronics as a back drop for a soulful and sultry journey through a tumultuous love affair, loss of self, and the dark empty spaces in our minds. the songs on fine lines sit in a space occupied by hip hop, future r&b and house, yet the record cleverly transcends any single genre. while much of the production is hard hitting, the album manages to walk a tightrope between heartache and swagger. a meticulous fine line that weaves itself like a thread throughout. sweatson klank enlists a number of features on the album including newcomers ana calvo, sarah saldivia, and annie bass as well as past collaborator, montreal producer ango.

k15 returns to wotnot after more killer releases on eglo & wild oats, a collaboration with henry wu, and remixes for nubya garcia, colm k (on tiffs joints) and wotnot s own william florelle, not to mention the beautiful record earlier this year under his culross close alias. we re all creative but somehow, being creative has become a class within itself, often defined and measured by the whims of popular culture and monetary gain, which leads us to devalue what we create if we are not successful by those metrics. we are all creative, we all use our experience, talent and feeling to shape and we should be glad we create anything. this ep holds onto this mantra tightly throughout, reflecting both the meditative and joyful effects of unimpeded creativity. the title track begins with k15s signature introspection, deep washes of jazz-inflected textures before exploding into a rapturous syncopated synth groove. b1 communion explores the spiritual angle with a devotional piano cadence over bouncing drum pattern, with interlocking bass and synth rhythms adding to the hypnotic mood. wrapping up the release is a warm, deep-soak hip hop instrumental titled you re alive (theres still time), a message to self but also a beacon of hope to those who have maybe not created as much as they would have liked, or have strayed from the path the intended to take.

oblique is proud to present it’s second various artists ep by friends we have met years ago online. before we had our first releases, we would upload our music to soundcloud and these guys were always on my radar to check instantly. besides inspiring me, their comments and feedback were invaluable to my growth as a producer. fast-forward a few years and everyone has grown in their own way, with multiple releases, labels and parties to emerge. the platforms have changed, but the connection did not, hence the idea to reunite them on wax :)

new to the all day i dream team is newman. his name literal. this new york based artist is at the beginning of what we believe will be a long career both through his emotive productions and compelling beautiful dj sets. the release itself sits at the more dance floor oriented end of the label. both breath of the souls and the long journey have been truly tried and tested at this point. solid grooves, wailing middle eastern emotive lady voices and strings. for our events, these are the peak time anthems. the ep also features when the leaves fall, closing out the release in blissful style, and a warm welcome for newman to our all day i dream family.

in our most private moments, we have often thought of multi culti as an educational enterprise: as you listen to our music and stare at our artwork, you are absorbing information in a way that might conceivably be defined as -learning.- our latest release brings this theoretically reasonable fantasy one step closer to fruition, as we welcome hamburg-based musician and composer andi otto (ph.d) to our roster of artists. a deep listening experience focused on repetition and timbre, bow wave was made using rare and unique instruments such as a special sensor bow for cello (and other string instruments) known as the -fello,- which otto developed during his residencies at the steim research centre in amsterdam. the album also features vocals from award-winning indian playback singer, actor, and tv anchor m.d. pallavi, a frequent otto collaborator, recorded while the two were touring japan. the digital edition of bow wave includes 10 tracks, while the six-track vinyl adds remixes by ecuadorian folklorica wizard nicola cruz and parisian adult disco purveyor golden bug, both of which will be released separately in a digital remix pack alongside reworks from brazil s ricardo vincenzo and norway s center of the universe. you are free to purchase all of them.

after a lot of questions from fans when we were going to drop enzyme 060, it is finally here. we thought it was time to celebrate one of our most memorable releases with some new influences, but not forgetting about the original one. as it’s been well over a decade since its initial release and the overwhelming impact it has had on many of our loyal fans. it was time to do something special. we present you the (very!) limited picture disc edition of ophidian & ruffneck’s “so many sacrifices”, including two remixes by rapture and neox. the original track has been carefully remastered to fit today’s standards, so you can play it loud again in your sets.

left hand path is proud to present its fourth release - ice pick, a beautifully aggressive four track techno ep from bay area troublemaker michael claus. following acclaimed releases on jacktone and 100% silk and his unforgettable remix on our last record by nackt, ice pick plays with (and against) modern movements in underground techno to satisfying effect. while michael s previous releases featured a gorgeous dub-infused atmosphere, ice pick steps towards a more militant sound. its eponymous title track is described perfectly by its name - a lethal rhythmically compelling club track primed for the peak of a late-night dj set. for each has the listener ascending an endless staircase of arpeggios, chased by raw electro beats. hexes is introspective, reinforcing michael’s talent for writing sublime melodic hooks. the record’s closer acid 46 is a bonafide dance floor stomper built around an undulating, coruscating acid riff, giving it a kaleidoscopic bay area twist.

there was only ever going to be one choice to launch first floor. not only is dubbyman the cover star of our debut publication of the same name, but he s also the face and sound of influential spanish label deep explorer, in-demand producer/remixer and long-time favourite with us. so the opportunity to collaborate on a special edition 7- vinyl release was one we couldn t miss. so far, featuring south african vocalist and musician ras vadah from the therapy collektive, is an extended version of the laidback, jazzy opening teaser from dubbyman s debut album deep is dead. deep explorer stalwart leo gunn, on remix duties for the first time, takes the same track and gives it a piano-driven, dance-floor focused spin. the accompanying fanzine not only includes interviews with both dubbyman and gunn, but also features articles on johannes albert, tommo & jonno, jesus gonsev, arnheim, sensible soccers and more.

released in the mid 1980’s the movie telling the story of a murder series which really happened during that time in florence. a psycho killer was hunting down woman and the police had no idea at all who’s the person behind the cruel crimes. the whole case also delivered the idea for hanibal lecter and the silence of the lambs movie from 1991. detto mariano produced this wonderful completely unreleased score on the hight of his success when he was also producing stars as for example adriano celentano.
very dope horror themes for the soundtracks collectors and a lot experimental electronics, score and ambient meeting jazz, pop, space disco,… is what you’ll get on all in all 35 songs.

we are extremely proud and excited to announce our first sheffield artist on cpu - 96 back aka evan majumdar-swift. swift has delivered a 4 track electro ep with a strong bleep and bass influence. coming from bleep lineage with swift being the son of legendary jive turkey promoter matt swift, these tracks are a cutting-edge interpretation of sheffield s electronic music heritage. to celebrate this steel city release on cpu one of the founders of warp, and fon studio engineer, rob gordon has mastered the tracks.

caused corruption & spilled blood is a soundtrack to the tragic drama of humanity’s fatal flaws. inspired by an anecdote shared across the abrahamic faiths, the release is a meditation on humanity’s destructive potential. it forces us to confront the ugly side of our nature and pose the question, were the angels right to fear our creation would cause corruption and spill blood? same script, no solution provides one answer. the sonification of “ordo ab chao,” the opening track guides the listener through the process of public manipulation, providing a backtrack to the obstruction of the truth for personal gain. third degree arson touches on humanity’s second vice: the affinity for intentional destruction. is there hope against these demons of our own nature? no divine savior suggests not. if we cannot rely on divine intervention for our salvation, that leaves only ourselves to overpower our own vices. yet with the discord of the final track, sects, the listener is reminded of the deep cultural fissures that keep us from doing so. the caused corruption & spilled blood ep is a powerfully provocative examination of human nature, a compelling first release from the collaborative efforts of chafik chennouf & katsunori sawa.

incl dl code, dam swindle present ‘high life, their second studio album due on the 28th may on the duos own heist recordings. the heart of the album was recorded over a three week period at their amsterdam studio in march 2017, and the release will coincide with the fifth anniversary of the label. since forming in 2011, the dutch duo have carved a unique place for themselves in the scene. their sound - which merges references from multiple decades into one smooth aesthetic - quickly rose to popularity for its careful blend of soul and rhythm, taking cues from their passion for obscure records, with influences ranging from house and funk to afrobeat and soul. dynamic live shows and dj sets afford them a packed touring schedule across the globe, whilst their label heist recordings is credited with consistently breaking new artists. the album explores the intersection of live and electronic music, with much of the improvised material left largely untouched to maintain its organic sensibilities. dam swindle describe the album as an electronic album with a live approach, combining our love for house, ambient and jazzy harmonics, making it a record interesting for the club, as well as a pleasant album to put on at home.
